As we close out 2025, the Huang-Martinez Foundation is proud to reflect on a year of meaningful impact and partnership. This year marked the formal launch of our collaboration with Ambition Institute, a charity dedicated to helping educators and school leaders keep getting better.
As part of a total £30,000 commitment to Ambition Institute, we were pleased to provide £20,000 in funding during 2025 to help launch the careers of aspiring teachers across Norfolk and Suffolk.
Our support is directed towards tackling some of the most persistent challenges in the education sector: teacher recruitment and retention. By investing in professional development, we are helping to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has access to expert teachers who can shape their future. We are proud to have partnered with Ambition Institute to turn this vision into reality.
We have been delighted to review the initial impact data from this partnership. The reports highlight how our funding is already helping individuals embark on rewarding careers in education. Our 2025 funding has been instrumental in supporting the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme. We are thrilled to share the tangible progress made by the 2024 cohort in Norfolk and Suffolk:
91% Completion Rate: Out of 23 trainees, 21 successfully completed their rigorous training year.
Direct Pipeline to Classrooms: 17 of these graduates have already officially joined the teaching profession, serving schools across Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex.
Continued Growth: We are now supporting these 17 individuals through the Early Career Teachers (ECT) programme, ensuring they remain supported, satisfied, and effective in their new roles.
"I’ve fallen in love with teaching. It’s the only career for me." -- 2024 Trainee, East of England
We are incredibly encouraged by the success of this partnership so far, and the momentum continues to grow. In September 2025, 130 trainees began their journey in the East of England, including 15 specifically within Norfolk and Suffolk.
The future looks even brighter: we have already received 37 applications for the September 2026 cohort. The Foundation's ongoing support ensures these prospective teachers receive the high-quality curriculum and training they need to thrive.
This work is only possible through the dedication of the team at Ambition Institute and the hard-working trainees in our local schools. We look forward to continuing this journey in 2026, working together to build a fairer society through the power of great teaching.
